Today Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) scripts are a main tool that most Oracle DBAs use to backup Oracle databases. The author is called to audit RMAN backup scripts on regular basis for several years now as part of his day to day duties and sees the same errors in scripts that Oracle DBAs are using to backup critical databases over and over again. Those errors may play a significant role in a recovery process when working under stress. During this presentation attendees will be given 10 very practical suggestions on how to improve backup procedures, better protect your Oracle database and prepare for smooth recovery in the event of an emergency.
